How to make an appointment

Routine appointments with doctors, nurses or health care assistant can be booked in advance via reception, by telephone, in person or online. The receptionist will ask you to give as much information as you can about the reason for your appointment, to ensure that you are booked to see the most appropriate health care professional. Doctor of your choice: you may wish to specify to see a particular doctor, in which case please ask reception about availability. To find out more about our Online Appointment system, click here.

Emergencyappointments are available every day. Please phone reception after 8am for a morning urgent appointment and after 2pm for an afternoon urgent appointment. Please try to phone as soon as you know you need to be seen, ie as early as possible. Please be considerate to others and try only to book a problem that cannot wait into these appointments.

Cancellations: Please notify reception if you cannot make your appointment, so it can be offered to someone else.

Text message service: if we have your correct mobile phone number, you will receive a text message the day before, reminding you of the date and time of your appointment.

Reception opening hours:
Monday - Friday 8.00 - 18.30
Telephone: 020 8246 4070
Fax: 020 8789 8568

Online Appointment Booking System

Our online appointment booking system is for routine GP appointments up to 4 weeks in advance. Urgent appointments, 8 week baby checks, Nurse appointments, form signing, Travel advice, immunisations and wound management should all still be booked by calling reception.

If you require a SAME DAY APPOINTMENT, please ring reception either 8am for a morning urgent appointment or 2pm for an afternoon urgent appointment.

How to register

Step 1: You will need to obtain a registration letter from the practice that has your PIN, Practice ID, Access ID & NHS number which you will need to activate the service. This is a document that allows you to register for the online appointments service. You need to contact the practice in person with photographic ID (due to confidentiality, we only give these out in person). This applies also to all ages unless under 13 years-old.

Step 2: Once you have your letter, go to https://patient.emisaccess.co.uk/. On the website that opens up, press the green button that says REGISTER.

Register

Step 3: If you have your registration information to hand click YES. Follow the instructions and fill out the forms presented to you by the website (see reference image below). You should also have a pen & paper handy to note down your login information in the next few steps.

Step 4: Once you have entered your information, you will be given a User ID and will have to choose a password. From this step onwards, you should always use your User ID & chosen password to logon to the appointment system.

Step 5: Login using your Id and Password. You will see an option to 'book appointment'. If there are no online appointments left, you will get a message informing you that there is nothing available at the moment. Please note that the surgery adds new appointments 4-6 weeks ahead in advance.

Step 6: You don't need to come back to this page every time you wish to book an appointment. You can go directly to this page at: patient.emisaccess.co.uk to book appointments.

Extra Help

If you have any issues with the service, you can read a useful FAQ by clicking here.

Alternatively, here is a short video on how to book an appointment (http://cdn.patient.co.uk/html/make-an-appointment.html).

Please Note:

If you already have 2 appointments and cannot book more, this is because you are able to book a maximum of 2 appointments on-line at any time. This is to avoid abuse of the online booking system. If you need to book more than 2 appointments, you will need to either call the practice (see 'Contact Details' section of our website), or cancel one of your existing 2 appointments and rebook your desired appointment slot.

Home visits

This service is for housebound patients, for both routine and urgent care. Patients able to attend surgery are encouraged to do so, where we have better facilities for examination and treatment. If you think you need a home visit, please phone reception as early as possible. Our nurse practitioner can help you assess the urgency of your call.

Telephone access to doctors and nurses

If you wish to make a non-urgent call to an individual doctor, reception staff can take a message: please leave a brief reason for your call, and a contact number. The doctor will return you call as soon as possible, but please note that this may not always be the same day. If it is urgent, please inform reception staff, and they will arrange for the duty doctor to call back.

If you wish to speak to a nurse, leave your name, number and query with reception and one of our nurses will return your call within 24 hrs.

Out of hours

We are closed: Monday to Friday 18.30 - 08.00, weekends, and bank holidays

For urgent medical advice call Care UK On-call Service: 0845 602 6292

Routine or emergency?

What constitutes an emergency is very hard to define but includes anyone in pain or distress. An emergency appointment would also be suitable if you felt waiting for a routine appointment would be potentially dangerous to your health.

If someone is unconscious, unresponsive, having difficulty breathing, showing symptoms that might indicate a heart problem or stroke, or are acutely ill (such as running a very high fever or in severe pain), and you believe them to be at risk without immediate medical help - call 999.

8to8 Access to Primary Care?

This new service in the locality offers patients the opportunity to access GP appointments when Heathbridge is closed, between the hours of 8am and 8pm seven days per week.

Call the surgery in the normal way to book one of these appointments. The appointments are based at the locality hubs, Tudor Lodge Health Centre, Wandle, and Clapham Junction Health Centre. See map.
